One thing that I think is so important to a creator’s success is being sure to keep up with the latest trends - both social media and other trends. I wanted to take just a moment to update you all on just a couple of trends which may have been overlooked this month!
BeReal is a new social platform which notifies users at a random time once a day. At this time, users are encouraged to take an unedited photo which features what they are up to at that time of day. Whether you are at the grocery store, the park, or even just binge-watching Netflix, the main idea around this new trendy platform is to encourage people to step away from the edited and praised look of everyday social media and show people the real side of their lives. It even shows your followers how late you were at taking your photo so that they know how “real” you are being. I think this concept is so creative and a great way to connect with your friends and loved ones who you may not get to see as much as you would like. It gives you a taste of what their lives look like on a daily basis, rather than just seeing what they edit and post for their social media profile. I’m definitely considering giving it a try. Besides, BeReal has reported that they have over 10 million daily users at this point and are still continuing to grow!
I am sure that by this point mostly everyone has realized that Reels are taking over social media - even to the point that people have started posting reels which feature only a still photo and a trending sound over it for likes and views. Apparently, according to recent trends, photos are “dead”, and all users pay attention to nowadays are short reels. While this can be discouraging for content creators, photographers, and small businesses alike, we can also use this time as an opportunity to learn about new trends, and what people are looking for in content. Don’t get me wrong, continue posting your normal photo content, however, maybe try to take advantage of a trending sound in Reels on Instagram or Facebook and see where it takes you. Don’t know how to find which sounds are trending? When you are scrolling through Reels, just look in the bottom left corner of the screen for a small upwards arrow - this indicates that the sound is currently trending!
