Digital Marketing Tips for 2023

Digital Marketing Tips for 2023

As we look forward to 2023, there is no doubt that digital marketing is becoming more and more of a necessity in today’s society. I want to provide you with a few marketing tips to help your business grow in 2023.

1. Optimize Your Website for Mobile Browsers

Mobile browsing has become almost as common as desktop browsing with more people utilizing smartphones every year. According to Broadband Search, "as of January 2022, mobile browsing has taken the lead at 56 percent of the market, whereas desktop browsing sits at about 42 percent. The remaining 3 percent can be attributed to tablets.” While these are global statistics, the stats for the U.S. aren’t too far from this. The split in the U.S. is about 50 percent on desktops and 46 percent on mobile, and the remaining 4 percent on tablets. This is why it is crucial that your website is optimized for mobile usage. Most of the time, if users cannot easily navigate a website they will likely exit the site almost immediately. Not optimizing your site for mobile users looks bad on your business and will also cost you customers along the way. I cannot stress enough the importance of this tip!

2. Prioritize Design

Design is a large part of marketing nowadays. Bad advertisements, website design, social media design, and anything of the like does nothing but push customers away. You want to be sure that your design skills are at their peak - drawing customers from all over the U.S. Hiring a professional graphic designer would be the first step in prioritizing design for your business. If you can’t afford a professional just yet, do some research, put your best foot forward, and give it your best shot. Platforms such as Canva have templates that you can utilize and personalize the way you like. That being said, be sure that your designs also correspond to one another in some way. Stick to your business’s specific style guide and you can’t go wrong.

3. Curate an Email List

Curating an email list is a great way to advertise your business and keep current customers interested. An email list allows you to be able to send promotional deals, updates, and other information to customers and clients. Perhaps provide a way for customers to input their email when they place an order on your website. Just be sure to not overwhelm their inbox because this will often cause people to unsubscribe, and we don’t want that.

4. Pay Close Attention to Analytics

Social media analytics is a great way to keep track of how your business is doing. That is why it is so important to pay close attention to them. Analytics provide you with insight into how many people are viewing your content, engaging (or not engaging) with your content, and even how many people follow/unfollow. Unfortunately, sometimes looking into analytics can be discouraging, but you can also choose to look at it as a way of bettering your business’s success. I encourage taking a look at analytics at least a few times a week and recording your progress.

5. Utilize Relevant Social Platforms

Utilizing social platforms that are the most relevant to your business is the best way to gain followers and content engagement. For example, if you’re a makeup business, utilizing TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest is probably the best way to reach your target audience. Create videos of makeup application and photos of the finished product. You wouldn’t want to utilize Twitter or LinkedIn, as most people don’t look to these platforms for beauty products and influencers. Discuss with your social media or marketing team which social media platforms would be best to utilize, and go from there. This will also prevent doing extra work on platforms that may not actually be helping your business grow in the long run.
